Spirit & Soul Special Guest Artist
Billy Ray Deiz National Indie Radio is proud to welcome special guest artist, Billy Ray Deiz, to the 'Spirit & Soul' radio show. Billy Ray Deiz is a music icon who helped form the hit band of 1960s and 1970s, The Seven Souls. The band initiated with the Righteous Brothers Agent, on Ike and Tina Turner's record label, and were managed by Larry Shayne. Ultimately they signed to the same label as Sly and the Family Stone, and their release written by Henry Moore and Billy, "I Still Love You," became a hit classic. Bob Welch learned his guitar chops as a member of Billy's band and later joined Fleetwood Mac. Billy Ray Deiz hosted a popular music show on KCBS TV in Los Angeles during the 1970s where he profiled stars and music legends such as Ray Charles, Neil Diamond, the Temptations and the Supremes. In one segment, Deiz sang a duet with Neil Sedaka and in another he jammed with Sergio Mendes. Billy Ray Deiz is featured along with Bob Dylan as a credited singer on the Leonard Cohen album, Death of a Ladies Man, produced by Phil Spector. His prolific career boasts many spiritual, inspirational and social justice songs.
