Ilya Setrakian is proud to bring some of Philadelphia’s finest musical and production talent together to make his latest EP of original music, 'I Never Knew'. With Sam Carlen at the production helm, this EP was recorded in one day at Spice House Sounds. Ilya’s music was sanctified by Kwesi Robinson on Drums, Greg Driza on bass and Sam Carlen on guitar. Dan Wright helped Ilya orchestrate the horn section and played the charts along with Izzy Moregrass and Patrick Conlon. The recording session/process was documented by Sunset Cinema. He has had release shows in PHI at Pub Webb and in NYC at Rockwood Music Hall. Look for the videos on Facebook and Youtube.
About 'I Never Knew':
I Never Knew features four thematically connected songs about longing, tenderness and human connection in a buzz fed world. “Stay the Night” uses funk and a driving horn section to make the case for a little more time and pillow talk. Mixing crush lyrics and lilting melody, "Amour” is an homage to Setrakian’s musical inspiration, Stevie Wonder. “On the Phone” reminds us how much a human voice matters in an age of relentless texting and instagram. And the anthemic “I Never Knew” affirms what we all get to know if we are lucky in love in this life!
